The European Union "continues to obstruct" peace talks on Ukraine between the United States and Russia. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, accusing the leaders of EU countries of opposing the settlement of the conflict through diplomatic dialogue, BTA reports.
At a press conference in Budapest after a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Feridun Sinirlioglu, Szijjarto stressed that direct talks between Washington and Moscow are the only path to achieving peace in Ukraine.
"If Russian-American talks cannot lead to peace, then nothing can. It is important that everyone supports these peace efforts," Szijjarto said.
Earlier that day, the Russian chairman of the Federation Council's International Relations Committee, Grigory Karasin, described Monday's talks with the US delegation as "difficult" but "constructive".
