North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was filmed inspecting new kamikaze drones, which, according to state media, are equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), the BBC reported, BTA reports.
The photos published by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), although undated, show Kim, surrounded by officials, on a runway, where he inspects the new combat vehicles.
According to the KCNA, Kim Jong-un has approved a plan to expand production of these drones.
Analysts say the development of this technology is likely being assisted by Russia, which North Korea has recently supported by sending its troops to help Moscow in the war in Ukraine.
In August 2024 North Korea has officially revealed that it has unmanned aerial vehicles capable of crashing into targets. At the time, the KCNA said Pyongyang would work "actively" to introduce artificial intelligence into these weapons systems.
