An Iranian missile has hit an apartment building in southern Israel, Israeli police said this morning, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
“Police forces in the southern district, along with ordnance disposal experts and emergency response teams, are currently working on the scene“, the official statement said. It included photos showing a building with visible damage to the facade, but the exact location was not specified.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the eighth day of the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. Air raid sirens sounded in several areas of the country, which were canceled minutes later.
The Israeli army confirmed that it had detected a rocket launch from Iranian territory, after which an alert was announced on the mobile application “Telegram“. The Home Front Command - the unit responsible for civil defense in war and crises - later allowed the population to leave shelters and protected areas.
According to the Israeli emergency service “Magen David Adom“, there were no reports of injuries in the strike.
