US President Donald Trump said today that he has not spoken to Iran or offered "anything" to the country and reiterated his claim that the US has "completely destroyed" Tehran's nuclear facilities, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
On Friday, Trump denied media reports that the White House administration had discussed the possibility of helping Iran access about $30 billion to develop a civilian nuclear program.
Meanwhile, an influential Iranian official issued death threats against the US president, stating in a religious statement that threats against Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are considered a curse and a sin punishable by death according to Islam, DPA reported.
Nearly two weeks ago, Trump indirectly threatened Khamenei by saying that he was an easy target. "We will not eliminate him, at least for now", the US president said.
Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi did not mention Trump by name today, but said in a religious statement that threats against Khamenei and other religious leaders are considered so serious that they are punishable by death, the state news agency IRNA reported.
