Hampartzumyan: These 20 euros of fuel subsidies are "we're still crying before they were ours"

"Bulgaria has had economic growth in recent years, but its structure is not favorable for the future. It is from consumption, from inflationary pressure and from a lot of spending on the expenditure side of the budget. We need to reverse these things in order to have some security for the future," believes Hristina Hristova

The monthly inflation for February is 0.4%, and the annual - 3.3%, according to national statistics data. The consumer basket has become more expensive by 1 euro in a week.

„There are things that statistics do not see. In principle, we should not get too carried away by the monthly inflation data. One month is too short a period to give us a clear indication, commented in „This Morning“ on bTV financier Levon Hampartzumyan.

According to him, the 20 euro aid from the state for the most vulnerable in connection with the increase in fuel prices is some help, but it does not solve any problems.

„These 20 euros are „we are still crying before they were given“. The effects of the increase in fuel prices are yet to be seen“, said Hampartzumyan.

Regarding the conflict in the Middle East, he pointed out that uncertainty awaits us because we do not know how „Trump will wake up tomorrow“ and what tariffs he will decide to impose.

„It is very important to fix the foundation of the economy - education, technological skills in young people. To have justice that does not depend on dwarfs. All these things create conditions where even if there is a war somewhere, we have the opportunity to react. These are our built-in buffers“, is the opinion of Levon Hampartzumyan.

“The data of the national statistics and the people's perception of inflation are at odds and this has been a problem for many years“, said the former Minister of Social Affairs Hristina Hristova.

“There are different reasons. We see that in the sphere of services there is an increase and it is more significant than in other spheres. There is also a shadow economy and places that are not in the statistics“, she commented.

According to Hristova, the government's intention to assist the most vulnerable is positive news. According to her, it is also good that there are criteria for receiving this assistance.

„The Easter supplements are also a gesture by the state towards people of retirement age. There are again criteria and I would say that these are good things“, the former social minister pointed out.

„Bulgaria has had economic growth in recent years, but its structure is not favorable for the future. It is from consumption, from inflationary pressure and from a lot of spending on the expenditure side of the budget. We need to turn these things around so that there is some security for the future“, believes Hristina Hristova.
