A test of the National System for early warning and notification of the population will be held from 11:00 a.m. today.
The national system is tested twice a year – in April and in October.
The activation of the sirens is for the purpose of checking their technical condition and functionality, acquiring the skills of the officials to work with the system and to train the population to recognize the signals emitted by the devices.
Citizens are urged to remain calm during the activation of the siren-announcement system.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) warns people that the test will be held on the territory of the cities: Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Kardjali, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Smolyan, Vratsa, Stara Zagora, in the municipal centers in these regions, as well as in municipalities in Vidin, Pernik and Yambol regions, in the settlements in a 30 km zone around the “Kozloduy” and local notification systems integrated into the National Early Warning and Disclosure System.
In Sofia, an air danger warning signal will sound.
Siren devices will be activated and beeps and voice information will be broadcast.
The head of the upcoming activation of the system for early warning and notification of the population is the Main Directorate of Fire Safety and Protection of the Population at the Ministry of the Interior.
