Former Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov explained at a briefing in Parliament why the country has not yet received the second payment under the Sustainability Plan.
"I am sure that this will be a topic during the months of the election campaign", said Denkov, quoted by Dariknews.bg.
"The facts are very clear - GERB and DPS are sabotaging the justice reform and the victim of this sabotage is the second payment under the recovery and sustainability plan,", he stressed.
Denkov announced that already at the end of last year, all the actions that depend on the Council of Ministers have been done and the bills have been submitted to the National Assembly. According to him, in order for the second payment to be made, the Personal Bankruptcy Act, the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules of Procedure, the Whistleblower Protection Act and the Climate Neutrality Roadmap must be passed.
He stated that the rules for the work of the national anti-corruption commission were first sent to the EC in October and since then there has been correspondence in which, according to him, GERB and DPS do not accept part of the requirements , which ensure proper work of the commission.
Former Justice Minister Atanas Slavov explained why, in his opinion, GERB and DPS sent the country to elections. "First, to keep their comfortable seats in the SJC and the High Prosecutorial Council", he said. Slavov announced that the newly drafted Law on the Judiciary provided for a clear and categorical depoliticization of parliamentary participation in both bodies.
