May 24 is the most Bulgarian, our most unifying and brightest holiday!
Because knowledge and writing are the light that illuminates the path of Bulgarians even in their darkest and hardest days…
May 24 is the day of honor to the word, to knowledge, to spirituality.
Because words and knowledge are the basis of life. They are memory, they build the bridge between past and future, they connect generations. They are intransitive.

This is what the Minister of Education Prof. Galin Tsokov says in his greeting for May 24. Here are more of his words:

May 24 is the day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their legacy. This day is pride and joy for all Bulgarians, wherever they are in the world.
Because our letters are our identity and our contribution to the diversity of European culture. They are the Bulgarian cultural heritage preserved by our country from distant centuries until today. Undoubtedly, Bulgaria is part of modern Europe through its alphabet, literature, liturgical tradition and spiritual experience.
The power of literature, sung by Stoyan Mihailovski, not only does not diminish over time, but also gives the true meaning of the holiday. The poem, turned into a hymn, which on this day has been heard for over 120 years, expresses in a unique way the history of Bulgarian writing and the people's thirst for knowledge and enlightenment.
Even today, the word amazes with its ability to change the world and people for good, with its power to overcome times and distances, conflicts and suffering, to unite and give faith.
That is why even now we bow gratefully to those who keep our country spiritually rich through the word and culture – teachers, university professors and scientists, people of art and culture
“Go ahead! Science is the sun!“ is an expression of faith in the power of enlightenment and the elevation of the Bulgarian spirit.
It is our vocation, destiny and responsibility to preserve, develop and enrich our sacred language as a feeder of meanings and meanings, of light and celebration for our children.
Because knowledge always makes our future bright!
Today, Bulgarian talented young people continue to glorify our country in all fields of knowledge.
Bulgarian scientists are at the top of international rankings and drive key technological sectors, and the thousands of Bulgarian teachers are still patriotically guarding the renaissance spirit and passing on to the generations the value of the native language and the wisdom of knowledge. Our universities combine academic knowledge with the requirements of the new age, Bulgarian families raise education as the highest value in order for our country to prosper.

The word Bulgarian makes Bulgaria boundless with nearly 400 Bulgarian Sunday schools in 55 countries, located on six continents, where the native speech sounds, reminding us that Bulgaria is everywhere where at least one Bulgarian heart beats.

Dear scientists and professors, teachers and directors, pupils and students, writers, journalists and poets, people of culture and guardians of the word,

Salute to all of you – modern educators and people of free speech! Have strength and hope to continue to pass on to future generations your knowledge, dignity and love for Bulgaria!

You, dear pupils and students, remember your race and language! Be proud of our history, our alphabet and our culture.

Because Bulgaria deserves it!

Happy holiday!
