CITUB: The Eurozone stimulates economic development, leading to growth in production and trade turnover

The union's position also states that anyone who tries, at the end of many years of efforts, to prevent the adoption of the single European currency has other goals and interests than those of the workers.

CITUB has come up with a special position regarding Bulgaria's membership in the Eurozone, reports the Bulgarian National Radio. It states that the final effect of our country's entry into the Eurozone will be an increase in the incomes of Bulgarian citizens, decent wages and a happier future.

The position also states that anyone who tries, at the end of many years of efforts, to prevent the adoption of the single European currency has other goals and interests than those of the workers.

The Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions recalls its long-standing position in support of the introduction of the single European currency as soon as possible.

The trade unionists emphasize that Bulgaria has been part of the European Union's Banking Union for 5 years. That the currency board has preserved the financial stability of our country for the past 27 years, but at the same time limits the potential of the Bulgarian economy, slowing down the real convergence of incomes.

The Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions highlights a number of arguments for joining the eurozone. Among them is that the eurozone stimulates economic development, leading to growth in production and trade turnover, resulting in higher wages and higher domestic demand.

And more - that the eurozone leads to a faster convergence of workers' incomes compared to the Central European ones and that this thesis has been confirmed by EU member states that have already joined the Economic and Monetary Union, and this applies in particular to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, which have a similar economic and monetary system to ours.

In them, wage increases of 80 to 120% are observed within 6-7 years after accession.

The position emphasizes that "the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions will not allow populism and political calculations to affect the well-being, economic and social security of Bulgarian workers".
