"Transport in Sofia will not move until the demands of the transport workers are met, which are a 300 leva increase in basic salaries. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by the chairman of the Federation of Transport Workers "Podkrepa" Ivan Kirilov.
He added that the protesters have also made a compromise.
We made the compromise that day at the 400 leva meeting - they had given us permission, a mandate, because there is a background, we have held 17 meetings in the four companies and they have told us: "You are going, you want 400 leva. In the process of negotiations, you can go down to 300". This is their wish and they are here. They can confirm it," he added.
"One way or another, the transport is not moving. This petition for effective strike action is that if the demands are not met and implemented, we can go tomorrow, sign what the people want, but if they do not fulfill it, that is why we will move on to future effective strike action," Ivan Kirilov explained.
Even today, trams, trolleybuses and buses of the public transport are not moving in Sofia due to the protest of the workers in it, demanding a salary increase.
Only the metro is working, as well as the services on the lines served by a private operator.
