Assen Vassilev: I am disappointed with Radev's position on the war in Ukraine

He expressed surprise at Rumen Spetsov's comment on the rise in prices of some goods. "The National Tax Service does not deal with measuring inflation, but with taxes," he specified

Month after month, inflation may be zero. Especially for inflation, things are not exactly like that, because we have witnessed an increase in the price of electricity in recent months. In total, in the three years for household consumers, prices have risen three times. This was stated by the co-chairman of “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria“ (PP-DB) Assen Vassilev in the show “Face to face“ on BTV.

He expressed surprise at Rumen Spetsov's comment on the rise in prices of some goods. "The National Revenue Agency is not concerned with measuring inflation, but with taxes", he specified.

Regarding the fears of people in the eurozone, Vassilev stated that they are legitimate. "Inflation and ecotaxes have nothing to do with the eurozone. In reality, electrical appliances are becoming more expensive because four companies have raised the ecotax by 1000% and the law allows them to do so, the ministry is doing nothing", he pointed out.

For many years, we have witnessed a freezing of incomes and growth in prices. We changed this, as a result, Bulgaria has broken away from the bottom of the EU. If this government policy continues, we will start returning to last place again, Vassilev warned and showed statistics on the movement of consumption relative to incomes in the eurozone.

There is a deterioration in the revenue side of the budget, the former finance minister announced. According to him, the state budget balance as of April is minus 1.2 billion.

Regarding the president's proposal for a referendum on the euro, Vassilev said: “What has happened is much ado about nothing. As a caretaker minister, I launched the plan for introducing the euro. It was up for discussion for a year. Then it was developed. At least 15 laws for adopting the euro were adopted, none of them were vetoed. I am disappointed with Rumen Radev's position on the war in Ukraine. Contracts like the one for “Botas“ should not be concluded,” Vassilev also said.
