Over 200 acres of wheat burned after the fire in Sakar

4 teams of firefighters remain on site, monitoring and patrolling the perimeter of the fire

Over 200 acres of wheat burned. This is part of the damage from the fire that broke out yesterday in Sakar. The fire, which spread over 4,000 acres in the municipalities of Lyubimets and Svilengrad, was localized last night.

4 firefighting teams remain on site, monitoring and patrolling the perimeter of the fire.

The flames started from a grain block near the village of Vaskovo yesterday afternoon, spread on two fronts and reached the lands of Momkovo and Pastrogor.

The investigation will show what the causes are, since the spark ignited at a time when the harvest had not yet begun and there was no agricultural machinery in the field.

A deciduous forest was also burned down, bTV reports.

"The approximate data at this stage is at least 2,800 hectares of forest. The area affected by the fire is much larger“, said Chief Inspector Ivelin Tonev- Head of the RSPBZN – Svilengrad.
