Rumen Hristov: The vote of no confidence showed the weakness of the opposition

The vote of no confidence showed the weakness of the opposition. This was commented on by Rumen Hristov from GERB-UDF to BNT.

According to him, another unsuccessful vote of no confidence and the next one being prepared show that the opposition is weak.

„We see the weakness that the opposition has. It is very fragmented, ideologically they differ a lot. There is no way to put "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Vazrazhdane" in one place. Rather, we are worried that parliamentary time is being wasted. It is indeed the right of the opposition to participate with votes of no confidence in areas in which it believes that there is a failure. But here they are simply looking for topics just to have a vote. There were no convincing arguments for the citizens and the society that this vote is needed, because in this area there is indeed a failure“, commented Rumen Hristov from GERB - UDF.

Regarding the three topics for a future vote of no confidence that the PP will propose to the DB, Hristov commented that there are indeed small problems in many sectors, but not grounds for overthrowing the government.

He specified that there is no information on the case raised by Asen Vassilev, related to the request of 1 billion leva from the Minister of Health to the Minister of Finance for inclusion in the budget of the new children's hospital.

„Once the issue is raised, it will be investigated and commented on. I have no information on the case. Most likely, a specialized institution of a completely new type will not cost as much as the apartments that are being built in Sofia, but the amount is really large and should be discussed by experts – if it is stated correctly at all“, he also said.

According to Hristov, the government is not fragile, has good support and could hardly be overthrown.

„We are a minority government. Three formations officially participate in it – GERB–SDS, BSP–OL and ITN. We also receive support from „New Beginning“. With them, overthrowing the government is very difficult. I believe that there should be no early elections before the presidential elections. There is a little more than a year left until them. It is good to see what the attitudes of society are, whether there are drastic changes, and then to assess whether to go for an early vote.“

Hristov emphasized that the government has every chance and guarantee to fulfill its full mandate.

„ This "A government can cease to exist only if the mandate holder – GERB-SDF – decides that it cannot fulfill its program, or another valid reason arises," he said, admitting that such a reason could be if it withdraws support from "DPS - New Beginning".
