The voted changes to the Road Traffic Act and the Criminal Code, which provide for more serious sanctions, are not aimed at filling the budget - this was stated in the studio of "The Day Begins" by Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from "Traffic Police". In his opinion, the changes are aimed at improving road prevention and reducing the number of injured and dead in accidents.

Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov, “Traffic Police” - GDNP: "If all of us realize that driving is very responsible and realize how serious the penalties are, the effect will be very quick, but if we wait to find out that something happened to our loved one or that he went to prison, the time will be longer. And yes, indeed, many people are already in prison for transport crimes, whether for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, or for accidents with injuries and deaths, the percentage of those deprived of liberty is very high".

"Collection is extremely important for drivers who have violated the rules to serve their sentences, but that is not what is important. We also work a lot on prevention and preventively impose various control methods. Where there are dangerous areas, we are visible, we carry out prevention, we carry out control surprisingly, it is not true that we are hiding in order to impose fines. You all see that during the traffic on the intensive days - Friday and Sunday, the police officers are on the highway, with lights on and are visible, so that all drivers can notice them.", pointed out Chief Inspector Bliznakov.
