Former Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov-Revizoro stated that GERB took away Pleven's water and must restore water to Pleven residents.
Pleven has enough water, but it is in crisis. Currently, the water from the "Sopot" dam is available with 40 million cubic meters and with the one in "Gorni Dabnik" they will have water for 66 months, and not even a drop has fallen, Revizoro criticized the government's actions against the water shortage in front of BNT. What prevents all this water from being purified with a module and given to Pleven, asked the former environmental minister, quoted by news.bg.
According to him, there will be a water crisis in Pleven for many, many years to come. "The water from the "Sopot" dam is good, but giving it to the people of Pleven is not good", Emil Dimitrov-Revizoro got angry. He believes that the entire water supply sector is hiding data and only wants money.
Revizoro believes that the government has lied to the people of Pleven.
"The only person who can solve the problem of water shortages in Pleven is Boyko Metodiev Borisov. The citizens of Pleven do not deserve to have the truth hidden from them," said Revizoro. And he criticized Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov for only dealing with the war in Ukraine, and not with the fact that people in Pleven do not have water.
The opposite opinion was expressed by Eng. Ivan Ivanov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Water Association. He argued and quarreled with Revizoro several times about what he was proposing in his capacity as former Minister of Environment and Water, stating that the best long-term solution for Pleven is the "Cherni Osam" water supply system. Now this system is totally abandoned and does not function, but calculations, comparisons and analyses need to be made for a long-term solution to the problem of water scarcity in Pleven.
Pleven can also be supplied with water from the Danube River, but solving the water problem in the city will not be quick, according to Eng. Ivanov.
According to him, there should be a dialogue between experts and the option that is best for society and the environment should prevail.
