"The impressive military parade in Beijing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II sent a clear political message to the world – and not from the historical date itself, but from the participants", former Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated on the air of “Offensive“, commenting on the appearance of Chinese leader Xi Jinping side by side with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The chosen date has little to do with the leaders present. Russia has no significant contribution to the Pacific Front, and even less to North Korea," Tagarev emphasized.

He also drew attention to Xi Jinping's clothes, reminiscent of those of Mao Zedong – a signal of historical continuity and ideological positioning.

Xi Jinping successfully took advantage of the situation he created himself – through the parade in China, he positioned himself as the leader of the anti-democratic part of the world,–– Tagarev commented.

Tagarev also commented on Russia's role in the new geopolitical equation: „Putin lives in his own fictional world, in which he perceives himself as an emperor – but he is not succeeding. It is not able to achieve even a small part of its goals in Ukraine“, the former minister pointed out.

According to him, the assumptions that the US will distance Russia from China are not justified: “There were expectations that with Trump's second term, Washington would try to pull Russia out of China's orbit. The exact opposite happened - Moscow is now firmly in China's orbit“, he emphasized.

In his analysis, Tagarev also touched on the shift in the geopolitical balance with the participation of India: “For decades, the West maintained a careful dialogue with India. However, now we see Prime Minister Modi in Beijing“, he commented.
