Canada won Olympic gold at the Milan Cortina 2026 men's curling tournament with an 8-7 win over Great Britain, returning to the top of the discipline for the first time since Sochi 2014. The Maple Leafs defeated the same opponents then, led by the same captain - Brad Jacobs.

Canada now has four Olympic men's curling titles, three more than any other team. The British are left with their only gold since the 1924 Chamonix Games, after which curling was dropped from the Olympic program for 64 years.

The British led for a long time in the match after a series of shots by captain Bruce Mowatt and his teammates, worthy of the best performances of the tournament. The score was 6:5 before the ninth end, when it was Canada's turn and the 40-year-old Jacobs. He shot for four points and although one stone came out of the circles with a little after the British one was cleared, the Canadians led 8:6 with a hammer for Great Britain in the last regular end of the final.

In the tenth end, the gold came down to an extra end or gold for Canada. Mowatt tried to knock two Canadian stones out of the circles, but one of them remained inside and thus the British scored only one point, which lost the match. Thus, with the same skip, they remained in second place again after the silver medals from Beijing 2022, where they lost to Sweden.

Switzerland won the bronze medals with a 9-1 victory over Norway on Friday. On Sunday at 12:05 Switzerland and Sweden will play for the women's title, and earlier today Canada won the bronze.
