US President Donald Trump will probably hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week in New York. This was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, quoted by the BBC, reports News.bg.

The two leaders will be in the city for the opening of the UN General Assembly session. According to Rubio, Trump will continue his efforts to achieve peace in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However, he warned that at some point the president may come to the conclusion that peace is impossible.

A day earlier, Trump said that he did not expect a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine in the near future, since "they hate each other so much that they can barely talk". The Kremlin also admitted that bilateral talks have been "paused".

The US president has already threatened new sanctions against Russia in the absence of progress on the ceasefire, but has so far taken no concrete measures.
