The Czech Republic has introduced a ban on the entry of holders of Russian diplomatic and service passports. This was announced by Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, quoted by the BBC, reports News.bg.
The minister specified that Russians with accreditation issued by the Czech authorities will be able to continue entering the country. He stressed that this is the first such case among European Union countries.
The restriction was introduced against the backdrop of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and after Prague's long-standing calls to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats within the EU, AFP notes.
Lipavsky said that such a measure at the EU level could “help solve the security problem, as the diplomatic network (of Russia) hides agents who threaten our security here“.
