According to a YouGov and CBS poll, more than half of US citizens are dissatisfied with President Donald Trump's job performance and are concerned about a government shutdown.
Data published by CBS shows that 80% of Americans are concerned about the economic impact of a government shutdown in the US, with 49% of respondents saying they are “very concerned”. Only 20% of respondents did not express concern about a possible government shutdown.
58% of respondents expressed disapproval of Trump's job performance, while 42% assessed him positively, according to the poll.
The poll surveyed more than 2,400 American adults. The margin of error is approximately 2.3 percentage points.
According to a YouGov and Economist poll conducted a week earlier, 54% of Americans had a negative opinion of Trump's job performance.
The US had previously forecast GDP losses if the shutdown continued.
