Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that it remains a mystery who is behind the wave of drone jamming that has affected work in various European countries, reports „Reuters“, reports News.bg.
He stressed that the incidents served as a useful reminder to Europeans about the dangers of war.
Medvedev – currently deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council – rejected the theory that the recent disruptions, including those to airport traffic in Germany and Denmark, were the result of actions linked to Russia or forces sympathetic to it.
“People who sympathize with our country (in Europe) will not waste their resources by coming out of hiding. Our ‘agents and moles’ are waiting for a separate order,“ he wrote on Telegram.
Medvedev, known for his sharp anti-Western positions, said that regardless of who was responsible, the important thing was that European citizens were already feeling what war could mean for their continent. He accused French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz of inciting war for political and financial reasons.
“The main thing is that short-sighted Europeans are feeling the danger of war on their own backs. "They are afraid and trembling like mute animals in a herd led to slaughter," Medvedev said, expressing hope that people might turn against Merz and Macron.
European talks about using frozen Russian assets to finance the purchase of Ukrainian weapons, along with discussions about shooting down Russian planes that violate European airspace and plans to build a "wall of drones," have angered Russian government officials. Moscow has repeatedly said it has no intention of attacking any NATO member state.
