The reason for the suspension of the dialogue between Russia and the United States on Ukraine is that US President Donald Trump has not yet decided what his next steps will be. This was stated by Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, to TASS.
„The dialogue between Russia and the United States has been suspended because US President Trump has not yet decided what actions to take. On the one hand, he wanted to win the Nobel Peace Prize and become a global peacemaker. On the other hand, there is enormous turbulence in the United States, where Trump's rating is falling because his words do not match his actions. And thirdly, and most importantly, there is external pressure from those forces that govern global processes and on which Trump's future depends. He is also influenced by them“, the agency's source said.
The State Duma deputy noted that Trump is confused about his future path – whether to continue building a unipolar world, accept the proposal of Russia and China to develop a partnership, or resolve issues that will allow him to maintain internal balance in the country. “Therefore, the pause is due to the uncertainty of the US leadership itself regarding many geopolitical processes“, concluded Vodolatsky.
