Drunk Chinese man kills eight people riding scooters with his car

Four more hospitalized with injuries

Eight people died when a car hit a group of people riding electric scooters in east China's Shandong Province.

Four more people were hospitalized with injuries, local police said.

The injured are in stable condition.

A 37-year-old man was driving the car. Preliminary investigation shows that the cause of the accident was drunk driving. The driver of the car hit multiple electric scooters, police said. One person died on the spot, and seven were taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to save them.

The accident occurred late on the evening of October 14. Further investigation is underway.
