The Israeli army said that its fighter jets had carried out strikes in the area of the city of Rafah, Gaza Strip, to eliminate the threat of "terrorists" who opened fire on Israeli soldiers, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

The military said that with their actions, Palestinian militants had grossly "violated" the ceasefire agreement, and added that the army would respond firmly.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry announced earlier today that the bodies of 15 more Palestinians had been returned to Gaza from Israel, bringing the number of bodies repatriated since the beginning of the week in the Gaza Strip to 150, AFP reported.

Under a ceasefire agreement negotiated by US President Donald Trump, Israel is to return the bodies of 15 Palestinians for every body of an Israeli citizen returned.

Israel announced today that it had identified the bodies of two hostages returned by Hamas under the ceasefire agreement.

According to the agreement between "Hamas" and Israel, backed by the US and other countries, the group was to release all hostages – dead and alive – by October 13.

The group released the last 20 live hostages on time, but as of Monday it had returned only 12 of the 28 bodies of dead hostages still in the Gaza Strip.
