Two earthquakes rocked southern Albania overnight

Magnitudes 3.9 and 4.4 with a depth of 2.5 km, no injuries or damage

Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.9 and 4.4 were registered this night shortly before 01:00 local time (02:00 Bulgarian time) in southern Albania, reports the Albanian television „Ora News“, citing the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to the EMSC, the first earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 occurred at 00:58 (01:58 Bulgarian time), 16 kilometers south of the town of Chorovoda. The second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 followed just a minute later at the same location.

The depth of the tremors was 2.5 kilometers, and they were felt most strongly in the cities of Berat and Elbasan.

There are currently no reports of injuries or material damage.
