Hungary is the only country where a peace agreement for the war in Ukraine can be concluded, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said during a speech dedicated to the anniversary of the anti-Soviet uprising of 1956, Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.

Orban pointed out that only Budapest can provide a neutral territory for such negotiations, as it maintains open diplomatic channels with both Washington and Moscow.

Meanwhile, it became clear that the planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest has been postponed to a later stage.

In his speech, the Hungarian Prime Minister also said that in his opinion “Ukraine has long is no longer a sovereign state“ and stressed that he did not want the country to become a member of the European Union. Instead, Orbán proposed the creation of a special partnership between the EU and Ukraine, which would not include full membership.
