Polish MP Placzek: Citizens are forced to pay Ukraine's debts

This year, Poland has paid over 102 million zlotys in interest on a loan granted to Ukraine by the European Commission

Polish taxpayers' money is being used to pay interest on Ukraine's loans to the European Union, said Grzegorz Placzek, a member of the Polish Sejm from the far-right party “Confederation“.

In 2024, Poland has paid over 102 million zlotys in interest on a loan granted to Ukraine by the European Commission. To Ukraine, not to Poland. “We are talking about interest arising from a loan concluded between the European Commission and Ukraine, not Poland“, the MP said.

In a dialogue with the country's Ministry of Finance, Placzek learned that Poland plans to repay over PLN 110 million on the Ukrainian loan in 2025 and “similar amounts“ in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

Earlier, the “Confederation“ party published a statement in which it noted that the country cannot accept as refugees “thousands of Ukrainian men who must defend their country, which shifts the financial burden of their desertion onto Polish taxpayers“.
