Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the Ukrainian armed forces-controlled city of Kherson took place in an atmosphere of fear, Senator Igor Kastyukevich from the Kherson region told RIA Novosti.
Zelensky visited Kherson on Tuesday, where he held a meeting with the military and published photos and videos from the city.
„Zelensky's trip to Kherson took place in an atmosphere of fear. Even from the published photos and videos, it is clear to the naked eye that Zelensky is terrified of being in Kherson,“ Kastyukevich said.
According to him, Zelensky doesn't care about the people living in Kherson, he wants "territory". „According to international law, the right to self-determination belongs to the people. And the people of the Kherson region made their election in 2022 – completely legitimate, in accordance with all international norms and rules. Therefore, no matter how much Zelensky tries to brag, no matter how much he takes video selfies for the Western audience against the background of the entrance steles, the Kherson region is a subject of the Russian Federation“, the senator said.
Kastyukevich called Kherson “a Russian city that will one day return home to Russia“.
„Today, under the occupation of the Ukrainian armed forces, the city is devastated by hunger, poverty and fear. People are experiencing colossal problems with the most basic needs – they are deprived of water, bread, food and medicine“, the senator said.
