US President Donald Trump has publicly severed ties with his iconic ally and face of the radical right Marjorie Taylor Greene at a time when his MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement is experiencing turmoil, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
"I am withdrawing my support for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene", he wrote on his social network "Truth Social" and added: "Maggie "Crazy" "just COMPLAINING, COMPLAINING, COMPLAINING", in reference to the Georgia state legislator who openly criticizes his economic policy, as well as the way he approaches the very sensitive "Epstein" case.
Against this backdrop, US President Donald Trump told journalists today that he will likely file a lawsuit for between $1 billion and $5 billion against the BBC next week in the US over the editing of his speech from January 6, 2021 - the day his supporters stormed the Capitol, Reuters reported.
Trump's lawyers initially gave the BBC a deadline of yesterday to withdraw its documentary or face a lawsuit of "no less" than $1 billion. They also demanded that the BBC apologize and compensate Trump for what they said was "significant reputational and financial damage".
The BBC, which admitted that the editing of Trump's speech was the result of "misjudgment", sent a personal apology to the US president on Thursday but said he had no legal basis to sue the media outlet.
