The US State Department has approved the potential sale of Patriot missile defense equipment and related equipment worth $105 billion to Ukraine, the Pentagon said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
The main contractors for the sale will be RTX Corp. and Lockheed Martin.
Meanwhile, two senior US military officials arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit and will meet with Ukrainian military commanders, lawmakers and President Volodymyr Zelensky, Politico reported.
The US officials – Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and Chief of Staff Randy George - will focus on engaging Ukrainian authorities in the stalled peace process with Russia, Politico added.
Driscoll also plans to meet with Russian officials at a later date, the Wall Street Journal reported in a separate article.
