Witkoff flies to Moscow today, meets with Putin on Tuesday

Rustev Umerov called yesterday's meeting in Miami successful. Zelensky described the conversation as constructive

US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will fly to Moscow today to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, December 2.

A Ukrainian delegation met with the American side at Witkoff's golf club in Miami last night. In addition to him, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner participated in the talks to discuss the details of the peace plan and coordinate their positions before discussing it with Moscow. The Ukrainian delegation was led by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

Umerov called the meeting "successful". Before it, he noted that the parties discussed the future of Ukraine, security guarantees and preventing a relapse into conflict. According to Axios, the territorial issue and security mechanisms remain key – the only points on which agreement was not reached during the Geneva talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram that all issues were discussed frankly. He called the conversation “constructive“ and “aimed at ensuring the country's sovereignty and national interests“.
