Australia is honoring the victims of the terrorist attack on Sydney's Bondi Beach during an event marking the start of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah a week ago, Reuters reported.
Against this backdrop, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese ordered a review of the activities of the country's law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Fifteen people were killed and dozens injured in the attack carried out on December 14 by a father and son who swore allegiance to the jihadist group "Islamic State". The father was shot by police, and his son, who was injured, woke up from a coma.
Today is a day of remembrance in Australia for the victims of the attack. Flags are flown at half-mast, and a minute of silence will be observed at 6:47 p.m. (9:47 a.m. Bulgarian time) - the exact time the attack began.
At the same time, the Australian Prime Minister condemned the anti-immigrant rallies scheduled for today in the country's two largest cities - Sydney and Melbourne.
