According to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the EU seeks to accept Ukraine into its ranks in 2027 to give it access to the community's budget, which begins in 2028, writes "European Truth", quoted by Focus.

On July 16, 2025, the Commission presented its proposal for an ambitious and dynamic multiannual financial framework amounting to almost 2 trillion euros (or 1.26% of the EU's gross national income on average between 2028-2034)

Orban claims that during the last EU summit, leaders were provided with a document describing the plans of Brussels to accept Ukraine in 2027

"They want to accept Ukraine in 2027. This is because they want to give Ukraine money from the budget, the seven-year European budget that starts in 2028. This means that this money will be taken away from us, the Central Europeans“, he stressed.

"Therefore, the time for Ukraine to join the EU before the start of the next seven-year budget is limited“, he added.

According to Orbán, the money that the EU provides to Ukraine should be used to develop the armies and arm European countries.

Yesterday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that "a quick accession of Ukraine to the EU by 2027 is impossible".
