Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he will "sweep" from Hungary all "pseudo-civil society organizations".
In his annual address to the nation before the parliamentary elections in Hungary in April this year, Orbán continued his attack on his main rival - the leader of the TISA party, Peter Magyar.
The Hungarian prime minister described Magyar as a "puppet of Brussels", supported by multinational companies.
According to Orbán, if the opposition wins the elections "the pockets of Hungarian families will be emptied".
"The oppressive machine of Brussels is working again in Hungary, we will sweep it away after April. Pseudo-civil society organizations, bribed journalists, judges, politicians, algorithms, bureaucrats, spinning millions of euros - this is what Brussels has prepared here in Hungary today," the Hungarian prime minister told his supporters and urged them to appreciate the friendship of the Americans, since, according to him, they were exposing Brussels' censorship and manipulation.
The 62-year-old Orban is facing his biggest election challenge since he returned to power in 2010.
His Fidesz party is in second place in opinion polls behind the opposition Tisza party ahead of parliamentary elections on April 12, notes Agence France-Presse.
The 44-year-old Magyar has promised to tackle corruption, accusing Orban and his allies of benefiting from corrupt practices.
"In 57 days, Hungarians will expel those who consider anyone who does not support their continued rule a traitor. And we will begin to build a new, peaceful, humane and working Hungary," Magyar wrote on Facebook.
