The island also demanded a corruption investigation against the king's brother

Former British business minister Vince Cable said that the time spent by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as a trade envoy should be investigated for possible corruption, the BBC reported. The "Epstein" files accuse the former prince of passing British government documents and other commercial information to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Vince Cable, who was Secretary of State for Business and Trade during part of the time the former duke was trade envoy, told the BBC: "We need a police or government inquiry into whether there was criminal corruption and a government inquiry into how this was allowed to happen".

He said Andrew's behaviour was "completely unacceptable".

In his role as UK trade envoy, which he held from 2001 to 2011, the then Duke of York and brother of King Charles travelled the world and enjoyed privileged access to senior government and business contacts around the world. In 2010, he apparently passed on an email conversation about Aston Martin and the Royal Bank of Scotland to a contact, who passed it on to the paedophile financier Epstein.

The Times newspaper reported that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor took David Stern, one of Jeffrey Epstein's closest confidants, on an official trip to Southeast Asia and Afghanistan. Stern was later appointed to run two different organizations linked to the royal family.
