The US Women's Hockey Team has declined Donald Trump's invitation to attend the State of the Union address to Congress.
This was reported by NBC, citing a representative of the USA Hockey Federation.
Trump invited the US men's and women's hockey teams to the event after both won Olympic gold medals. The American teams defeated Canada in the final games, 2-1 in overtime.
“We are truly grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal-winning USA women's hockey team and appreciate the recognition of their remarkable achievement,“ said a USA Hockey spokesperson.
“Due to scheduling and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments after the Games, the athletes will not be able to participate. They are honored to be included on this list and grateful for the recognition.“
The USA women's hockey team has won its third Olympic Games. The US women's team previously won in 1998 and 2018.
