The Ukrainian General Staff announced that in January and February it carried out three strikes with FP-5 "Flamingo" cruise missiles on targets in Russia, the last of which was a record in terms of range and accuracy.

For the first time, the use of the missiles, produced by the private Ukrainian company Fire Point, was reported back in November 2025, but without specifics. In early February, the Ukrainian side announced a strike on the Russian "Kapustin Yar" test site in the Astrakhan region, where Kiev said a hangar was seriously damaged.

However, military analysts have expressed different opinions about the scale of the damage. On the night of February 12, the "Flamingo" was used against a large ammunition depot near the village of Kotluban in the Volgograd region, with published satellite images showing significant damage to a storage facility.

The most extensive strike was carried out on the night of February 21 against a military plant in the city of Votkinsk, Udmurtia. The Ukrainian General Staff reported a hit and a fire, while Russian authorities said it was a drone attack.

According to BBC sources in the Ukrainian forces, the missile traveled about 1,700 km - a record distance for a Ukrainian cruise missile. Fire Point said that the maximum range of the "Flamingo" reaches 3000 km and that the success is due to a change in tactics and improvement of navigation systems.

According to the Ukrainian side, the strike affected two production workshops, including the electroplating and stamping body of the Votkinsky plant, which plays a key role in the production of ballistic missiles for the Russian army. At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia had attacked a plant related to the production of "Flamingo", but production was partially restored after relocation.
