The diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Anwar Gargash, questioned the response of Arab and Islamic institutions to what he described as Iranian aggression directed against the Gulf states, DPA reported, BTA reported.

Gargash criticized their "absence and powerlessness", highlighting the lack of collective regional action.

In his comments made in "Ex", the diplomatic adviser to the UAE president questioned the place of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation while the Gulf states face growing threats to security.

Anwar Gargash added that "as we confront Iran's brutal aggression and discover our unwavering strength in steadfastness and resilience, our thinking does not stop at a truce, but extends to solutions that guarantee lasting security in the Persian Gulf".

"It is unthinkable for aggression to become a permanent state of threat," the diplomatic advisor to the UAE president also wrote.

Gargash said that security in the Persian Gulf must remain independent, stressing the need to counter threats from missile, nuclear and drone attacks while preserving strategic partnerships, especially with Washington.

The comments came after the UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air systems had intercepted 7 ballistic missiles and 16 drones launched today by Iran.

Since the attacks began, UAE air defenses have intercepted a total of 352 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,789 drones, the UAE news agency WAM reported. The statement added that two military personnel and six civilians of various nationalities have been killed in the attacks so far, while 161 people have been injured, including UAE nationals and foreigners.
