The Wall Street Journal does not rule out a full-scale resumption of bombing

After fruitless talks with Iran in Pakistan, US President Donald Trump and his advisers are exploring the possibility of resuming strikes against the Islamic Republic, albeit on a limited scale, in order to push Tehran to make concessions, The Wall Street Journal writes.

According to the publication, a full-scale resumption of bombing against Iran is not ruled out. However, this option for further US action is considered less likely, as it risks destabilizing the situation in the region and drawing Washington into a prolonged armed conflict.

The publication notes that each scenario carries significant risks. If the full-scale military operation continues, the US risks depleting its weapons stockpiles. The reduction in the intensity of hostilities can be seen as a victory for Tehran.

On April 11, Iran and the United States held several rounds of talks in Islamabad. The Iranian delegation was led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the American delegation was led by Vice President J. D. Vance. As later reported in Tehran and Washington, the parties failed to reach an agreement on a long-term settlement of the conflict due to a number of disagreements.

Details of a possible new round of talks remain unknown.
