Russia's air defense system shot down 15 aerial targets on the approach to Belgorod, according to preliminary information there were no casualties, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on his Telegram channel, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
The head of the region announced at 2:49 Moscow time that a missile threat was declared in Belgorod and the Belgorod region. At 3:42 Moscow time, the missile warning signal was cancelled.
"Our air defense system operates over Belgorod and the Belgorod region - 15 air targets were shot down on the approach to the city. According to preliminary information, there are no victims", he wrote.
The head of the region added that in Belgorod, as a result of an air strike, windows were broken in 37 apartments from 17 residential buildings, and in one of the residential buildings, projectile fragments seriously damaged the balcony of one apartment. The glazing in the Belgorod Arena and gym No. 22 was damaged. According to preliminary data, 12 cars were damaged by shrapnel.
"In Belgorod Oblast, after coverage of an air attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the village of Dubovoye by air defense forces, a roof of a private household was cut off. In the village of Repnoe, a car was cut open by shrapnel," Gladkov added.
Emergency services are on the ground. Information about the consequences of the shelling is being clarified.
