Zelensky: The world must feel the pain caused to Kharkiv

The President of Ukraine called for political will to provide the "necessary means" for air defense

In his regular evening video address on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the world must feel the pain caused to the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv by Russian strikes and renewed his call for “political will” to provide Ukraine with the means for air defense, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

“It is quite clear that our available air defense capabilities are not sufficient and this is obvious to our partners. And the world should finally hear the pain that Russian terrorists are causing to Kharkiv, Zelensky said.

He added that “there are defense systems around the world that can help. All we need is political will to transfer these systems to Ukraine”.

Zelensky has long been calling for additional American "Patriot" anti-aircraft missile systems, DPA recalls. He previously said in a television interview that his country needs at least 25 of these systems to repel Russian air attacks.

As reported by the local prosecutor's office, two Russian bombs hit Kharkiv at noon on Sunday, injuring five people and causing damage to 13 residential and other buildings.

On Friday night, Russian airstrikes in the city killed six people and wounded 11.
