Mexico has filed a lawsuit against Ecuador

The reason is the storming of the Ecuadorian police against the Mexican embassy in Quito

Mexico appealed to the International Court of Justice because of the storming of the Ecuadorian police against the Mexican embassy in Quito, France Press reported, quoted from BTA.

Because of this attack, the two countries severed diplomatic relations. Before the highest court of the United Nations, Mexico requested the suspension of Ecuador as a member of the world organization until Quito publicly apologizes and acknowledges the violation of fundamental principles and norms of international law

Last Friday, police raided the Mexican embassy in Quito to arrest Ecuador's former vice president, Jorge Glass, accused of corruption in his home country. Glass had sought refuge in the embassy. Quito said he considered Mexico's grant of asylum to Glass to be illegal

The International Court of Justice has confirmed that it has received a formal claim by Mexico against Ecuador.

Jorge Glass was taken to a hospital in Guayaquil on Monday for possible unwellness after refusing to eat in prison for 24 hours. The next day he was returned to the prison in Guayaquil, where he had been taken after being taken out of the Mexican embassy in Quito. According to people close to him, Glass tried to kill himself on Monday and was therefore taken to the hospital

Glass also has German citizenship and yesterday Germany said it was trying to make contact with him.

Ecuadorian police storming the embassy was condemned by left-wing governments in Latin America, but also by ultra-liberal Argentine President Javier Millay, as well as the EU, the US, Spain and the Organization of American States
