Strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian territory with Western weapons will lead to a spectacular escalation of relations between NATO and Moscow, the consequences of which cannot be predicted, writes the German publication Focus, citing Gerhard Mangot, a professor at the University of Innsbruck, FOCUS reported.
"This will significantly increase the tension between NATO and Russia. We will find ourselves in a gray area with the risk of escalation that no one can predict or control," he warns.
The publication emphasizes that the situation in Ukraine is so dire that the United States no longer imposes strict bans on the use of American weapons for Ukraine. Thus, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a visit to Kyiv, stated that Washington does not encourage Ukraine to strike at Russia, and Kyiv should make such decisions independently, the material says.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his address to the Federal Assembly, said that the dangerous actions and statements of the West in foreign policy threaten a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization.
