Zelensky: Unfortunately, the free world is not quick with military aid to Ukraine

Ukraine most urgently needs more air defense systems and Western fighter jets, the president said

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again emphasized the urgent need of his country's air defense weapons, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

Ukraine most urgently needs more air defense systems and Western fighter jets, Zelensky said in his daily video address on Monday evening.

"Unfortunately, the free world lacks expediency on these two issues," he said, adding that thanks to its air superiority, Russia is able to destroy Ukrainian cities and defensive positions with planning bombs.

According to Zelensky, the Russians are actively using destructive tactics on the front line near Kharkiv and in the eastern part of Ukraine, in the Donetsk region, in the direction of Chasov Yar and Pokrovsk.

In recent days, Zelensky has already several times requested the delivery of two additional "Patriot" air defense systems, DPA recalls.

He said this would provide better protection for Kharkiv, which has repeatedly been attacked from the air. The city in northeastern Ukraine is one of the hardest hit by the war.

The fighter jets mentioned by Zelensky were promised to Ukraine a year ago. According to official information, however, the F-16s have not yet arrived.
