Passenger train collides with freight train, 26 injured

Four people died and 26 were injured after a passenger train collided with a freight train in Czech Republic late last night, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA, referring to the governor of the administrative region.

The disaster happened in the city of Pardubice, which is 120 km east of the capital Prague and is part of the main railway corridor in this part of the country.

The two machines collided head-on, the governor informed. Footage from the crash scene released by local media shows at least one derailed carriage. Emergency teams are on site.

Prime Minister Peter Fiala expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims on the "X" platform. and sent to the spot two ministers from his cabinet - of internal affairs and of transport.
