Antonio Guterres condemned the shooting of Donald Trump

The former president expressed his condolences to the family of the person who was killed in the shooting, as well as to the family of another person who was seriously injured

Spokesman of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the shooting of former US President Donald Trump at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Trump was injured in his right ear but is fine, he and his campaign staff said. He plans to attend the Republican National Convention on July 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he is expected to be nominated as the party's candidate for the 47th President of the United States.

„The Secretary General unequivocally condemns this act of political violence. He sends his best wishes to President Trump for a speedy recovery," the UN chief's spokesman said, Reuters reported.

The attack against Trump was condemned by a number of American and foreign politicians.

Trump himself thanked the Secret Service and all law enforcement agencies for their quick response to the shooting, Reuters reported.

Trump offered his condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the shooting, as well as to the family of another person who was seriously injured.

„It is unbelievable that such an act could happen in our country”, Trump said and described what happened.

The attack was condemned by local politicians, led by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as Chuck Schumer, Mike Johnson, Mitch McConnell, Hakeem Jeffries, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Lloyd Austin, Anthony Blinken and others.

British Prime Minister Keir Strummer was among the first to react after the attack, which was also condemned by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Brazilian President Inacio Lula da Silva and others.
