The conclusions of the head of the press service of the State Department, Matthew Miller, regarding Russia suggest that the attempt to kill former US President Donald Trump is a manifestation of democracy, reports News.bg, the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry said Ministry Maria Zakharova, quoted by TASS.
In her Telegram channel, she drew attention to Miller's reaction to the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The head of the press service of the State Department made a statement that "no one is threatening Russia" and that what Moscow perceives as a threat is, in his words, "democracy".
"It turns out we can say the same about the Trump assassination attempt: Is what some perceive as a threat democracy?" wrote Zakharova.
Earlier, Lavrov said that to end the conflict in Ukraine, it is important to eliminate its root causes, including threats to Russia coming from Western countries.
Washington is in a period of absolute internal political crisis from which it cannot find a way out, Zakharova said on Monday on the occasion of the attempted assassination of Trump.
"The United States of America has entered an absolute domestic political crisis from which it cannot find a way out," noted the diplomat.
On Sunday, the Kremlin said it did not hold the US administration responsible for the assassination attempt against Trump, but accused it of creating the atmosphere that provoked the attack.
