Kamaran Island was also hit with similar strikes hours earlier

American-British strikes were carried out last night on Shiite-controlled Houthi rebels at an airport in the Yemeni city of Hodeidah, reported the TV station close to the Houthis "Al Masira", quoted by DPA and BTA.

"The forces of American-British aggression attacked Hodeidah International Airport", said the media, which is considered a propaganda mouthpiece of the group.

The television did not give further details, but indicated that the attack on Hodeidah airport came just hours after the island of Qamaran, which is located off the coast of Yemen in the southern end of the Red Sea, was also hit by similar strikes.

So far there is no comment from the American and British side.

The Red Sea port of Hodeida is of strategic importance. Yemen has been suffering for years from civil war and a severe humanitarian crisis, with 80% of its population dependent on humanitarian aid supplies.

According to UN data, about 70% of all Yemen imports and 80% of all humanitarian aid entering the Middle Eastern country pass through this port.

Houthi fighters have been attacking ships in the Red Sea for months on the grounds that they want an end to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, which followed an unprecedented massacre by the Palestinian Islamist organization "Hamas" on October 7.

In response to the attacks in the Red Sea, the US and Britain attacked Houthi positions in Yemen.

The EU, for its part, has also launched a military operation in the region to protect commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

On July 20, Houthi rebels accused Israel of carrying out airstrikes on the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah. Israel confirmed the attack.
