European officials expect Iran to soon deliver ballistic missiles to Russia, a move that could prompt a swift response from Ukraine's allies, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg, as cited by Focus.

Iran has already provided Russia with hundreds of drones during its war against Ukraine, but a possible transfer of ballistic missiles would represent a worrying development in the conflict, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the matter.

The sources did not specify the type of missiles or the size of the shipment, although they noted that they could be delivered "within days."

The US National Security Council has not yet responded to Bloomberg's request for comment. Iran's Foreign Ministry and its UN mission also declined to comment on the matter.

Earlier Reuters reported that Iran had provided Russia with about 400 ballistic missiles. According to reports, most of the missiles transferred were Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar ballistic missiles, capable of destroying targets at a distance of 300 to 700 kilometers.
