The EU expects to continue the very good cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities, as this is in the common interest, a spokesman for the European Commission said today at a press conference in response to questions related to the latest changes in the government in Kyiv, quoted by BTA.
It is important for the EU to have a stable and good partner in the face of the Ukrainian government, he added. The spokesperson did not specify whether the changes had been previously agreed with the EU, noting that such decisions are within the competence of the relevant authorities and should only be consistent with the constitution. “The Ukrainian authorities are not obliged to notify us and coordinate with us such steps,” he added.
The speaker also pointed out that the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, highly values the former Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba. “We congratulate Kuleb for his work in such a complex environment,” he concluded.
